Rising Above is committed to breaking the cycles of defeat in Grande Prairie people. They house, teach life skills and provide on the job training for people caught in the cycles of addiction. They need continual funding from the community to continue in their operations to be able to help those who cannot help themselves.

Rising Above also offers businesses life skills and emotional support programs for facing challenging situations in life. Offering a wide range of programs for substance abuse, risky behaviours and self awareness, these in depth programs are designed to help those struggling and are offered as individual or group training sessions at their place of business or Rising Above Training Centers.

Rising Above is funded by generous community supporters and the proceeds from Second Chance Furniture Store. They know that without the help and support of the community's caring people they would never be able to reach out to people who are trapped in cycles of defeat and help them find their way to wholeness.

Second Chance Furniture Store serves three purposes. It gives participants of Rising Above employment readiness skills, Job Training, Job Coaching, and Practical Experience. It also provides constant financial resources to Rising Above so that better and more programs can be offered to the participants. As well, it serves the community two-fold, first it provides great affordable furniture for our community and second it gives a home to pieces of furniture that otherwise would have ended up in our city dump.

Second Chance Furniture Store is located just off Resources Road at 9613 98st (the old Swan City Auction Building) Turn off Resources Road at 97 Ave.

Hours: Monday to Saturday 10:00am to 5pm
