Healing Part 1

I have alluded to this message before but honestly, have we, you and I changed the way we pray? If we have not and I am speaking to myself here, something needs to change.
My granddaughter was here for our sleepover and we put up our inflatable snowman outside. When we first bought him he played music. He stopped playing music by the end of last year. I blew him up inside twice and he refused to play music. My granddaughter was so ecstatic when we pulled him out to blow up inside that she kissed him over and over while she was hopping up and down with excitement she was so delighted. He did not play music and so far so good with her.
We then took him outside and placed him in the garden area where he sits, she wanted him to play music. All of the sudden he did! The happy dance began!! When he was done he would not play again. She went over too him and patted him and kept saying “come on, come on, God come on, come on Christmas.” And darned if he did not start playing again. I was stunned. He played for a while then stopped she tried her come ons again and again. Sometimes he worked others he didn’t. But when she included God in it- it worked. I marvelled at the faith of a child and her Daddy who answered her.
When we pray and especially when we pray for healing we need the faith of a child “come on, come on God…” and we wait.
When the healing is not going the way we expect we tend to disbelieve that God is there, and start to believe that He is not concerned or cares. I know I did sometimes. Nothing is further from the truth. God cares about everything! Deeply.
Think back to the Bible stories of healing, they were all different. Jesus did not heal in the same way ever. He changed it up. Do you continually pray for healing the same way? Is it an endless cycle of the same? How is that going for you?
I figure it is hit and miss right? That is because it is not about your prayers “fixing it”, it is about bringing that person before God to do the work. You cannot heal, God does.
God showed me over the summer, not just once but several times and in different ways with my own healing, that healing is a process for some, it certainly has been for me, others it’s miraculous and done. He chooses the way, and sometimes heaven was the answer. This may seem to be a repeat message of sorts but it just keeps coming and so my only option is to write about this message I keep getting.
But He had to show me this…we are made up of body - physical, soul- our personality, spirit - our connection to God, heart - our engine. Each of these can be broken, damaged and traumatized. Each area!
Do you remember the Titanic analogy?
God said that the hull of the ship is our physical body. The heart of the ship, similar to our hearts, is the power, the engine room. The spirit of the ship is the “presence or image” of the ship. The Titanic was deemed “unsinkable, the worlds largest and safest ship.” This was its personality or spirit. The soul of the Titanic was the air tight, sectioned off rooms, ballast areas.
He explained that we can ask Him what area needs healing. For example, for me, I asked Him to show me what area needs healing, He showed me my heart, it was shattered. It was going to take a miracle to fix it, there was a definite block in my heart towards life, God and most everything. God specializes in miracles. So I started praying specifically about my heart, asking for “a creative miracle” to happen in it. He started working because I let Him.
Notice this please: I asked what the area was that needed attention, I prayed for that area specifically and asked for a “creative miracle “ only God has those, I waited.
I started praying this way for others… in my head. I would ask God what area(s) were broken, He show me and I would pray. But I have not been faithful to do it over others outloud yet. It seemed so ‘out there’… I did not understand it and trust me this is just the tip of the subject.
You know as I stood there watching my almost 3 year old granddaughter pat Mr. Snowman and asking God to make it work- I did not understood it either! Then I got it! I did not have to understand, I simply needed to pray it!
Proverbs 14:30 – "A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy (jealousy) rots the bones."
Proverbs 17:22 – "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."
Jeremiah 20:9 - “Your word is like a fire in my bones."
Real life emotions and stress have real life implications in our bodies, the Bible tells us so, science and medicine tell us so. How do we combat it?
Only a few people I know pray this way: “I call the Spirit of ….(your name or another’s name) to attention to hear what the Lord says.” Call yourself to attention in the spirit because you are 100% physical and 100% spiritual. Your spirit is your connection to God. God knows what you need.
Ask God what is stuck and in what area of your body, and if it is broken, or damaged. Then ask God to heal and creatively restore this area, to be the miracle that area needs.
You will need to give that broken area to Him, all of it. If it was damaged because of another person, you will need to give the pain, the offense, the brokenness all to God. If you choose to hold onto it, do not expect full healing.(although the scripture below implies different...) Unforgiveness is the main reason people have a block in their relationship to God.
Yes God can heal anything but there are times Jesus healed with a warning.
John 5:14 – Jesus heals a man at the pool of Bethesda and warns him: "See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” But He healed him first.
We do not know the sinning this man was doing, God did. If you have unforgiveness in your body, it is a sin but so is envy, jealousy, and a few others. God healed this man’s physical body first and then warned him, stop sinning or face the consequences.
This whole connection thing is an interesting topic to ponder but when I read in the Bible that envy or jealousy can rot my bones, or that a crushed spirit drys up, crushes, starts to break bones down, well maybe there’s something going on inside I need to pay attention to and ask God for help with.
I took a course this summer on Somatic exercise. “Somatics is a type of therapy that integrates the mental with the physical, which emerging research has shown may help some people release trauma, like from coping with a life-threatening condition or surviving a physical assault. Trauma is in the nervous system, and there are [physical] ways in which we can access it that can offer us healing and relief,” says Alixandra Blackman, PsyD, a Brooklyn-based clinical psychologist.
These are small, focused movements that have the ability to open a connection from the body to the brain. The exercises themselves are gentle, barely moving, a more focused approach to movement. Barely moving but opening up blocked connections in your body. It’s rather fascinating because they have shown that even paralytics believing that they could move their paralyzed body part, if they concentrated on it over time they could get some movement!! A very small, miniscule movement will open a path in their body leading to more movement. Nothing forced, nothing rushed, small focused movements.
Since we are connected beings and we now know that a small movement in your body can open a connection to your brain. Would it be a stretch to think that in stuck, broken, damaged parts of our body, soul, spirit or heart, that a small movement of your body, soul, spirit or heart could open up a connection to God, the ultimate healer, allowing Him to start the healing process.
What if that whole process starts with a gentle simple prayer, “God please show me where and what part I need healing in, help me to give this to you ….”, then we focus on that area, with gentleness to ourselves, a small movement forward reopening a connection with God, who specializes in mighty miracles.
I am the messenger and even if I do not understand all this per se, I feel I must share this with you, this new way to look at healing, our bodies and God. It was not until I was at the Somatic course hearing about how science and movement was opening up pathways in the body, that God showed me, how small faith movements could open up pathways to Him.
