Taking A Little Time

A huge hello from Nova Scotia!
Did you ever say anything like.. “I should take the time to….” fill in the blank. Well I wanted to go to Nova Scotia - New Scotland. I saw old Scotland last year and this year it’s New Scotland, that’s what Nova Scotia means.
This trip is a “faith” trip for me, yes my friends name is Faith but that’s not what I mean. I booked this trip back at the beginning of June when I could not move much and had an average pain level of 8-10, I had a hard time dressing myself. It seemed too incredible to believe it would even happen. I tried to sort out how I might walk through parking lots and airports if I did not feel better.
God showed up! I slowly started to feel better and we decided to take the time to go exploring. Look at me, able to walk, climb the stairs, the hills. Driving long stretches can stiffen me up but it can stiffen anyone. We are careful to ask each other about our levels - we sometimes needs more breaks or stops than others, but we are taking the time.
I am standing beside the Bay of Fundy in Burntcoat Park, Nova Scotia. This park is one of North America’s noted wonders with its “flower pots”.
The flower pots are out-cropping of red rocks that have been eroded by the ocean until they resemble flower pots holding the forest on top of them.

It’s really beautiful because the ocean bottom is red, the sand is red and the hills are red. The dirt around this area is red. We were able to watch little crabs scurry around in small tide pools. There is a lighthouse on the property that we climbed up to the top in (it was not that tall).
My girlfriend and I started out in Halifax and sat beside the harbour watching the water, the boats and listening to the waves. We were serenaded by a busker playing oldies on an accordion. It was so very relaxing.
We have taken in Farmers Markets, a ferry ride of Halifax harbour, endured blasting winds and drenching rain at Peggy’s Cove, been in Mahone, Lunenburg and saw Blue Rocks.
It’s been busy but so gorgeous because today we found the “extensive foliage”… the fall leaves! The oranges, reds, yellows and some greens, so breathtaking!!

We ended up the day with at stay at a chalet with the most incredible view and complete with inside fire place, an outside fireplace that we lit and sat and soaked up the view. We took a dip into the outdoor hot tub. We will sleep well!

Tomorrow is our halfway mark and it feels fast but we have certainly seen so much and have a ways to go. Our sights are on the Cabot trail and a visit with a dear friend first.
Life is fast and we can come up with reasons, good solid reasons why we should keep on keeping on, instead of taking the time to make the time for you. Think of your phrase “I should take the time to ….” then make a plan to do it!
