Shut The Front Door!

Where do I start with this one???

I saw the book and the title was “Book 1 of 2: Complete Guide to Christian Witchcraft.” It was one of 5 books on the subject that popped right up. Although the front was all “pretty” I have to admit my blood pressure rocketed, my body went rigid and everything in me wanted to yell…

“there is NO such thing as a “Christian witch!!!”

You can never put those 2 words in a sentence- Christian and then - witch. NO it is not right.

However there seems to be a trend right now where some people are trying to connect the two. I found other books and articles trying to blend the two. I learned this week that a very well known mega church has endorsed Christian tarot cards! God forgive us!

In a world where the occult and witches and spells and hexes are increasing here in North America and I saw it hugely in Scotland, and the UK, the concept may seem possible that maybe we should bend a little. Is there a chance that this would ever be okay or even a thing? Nope, not ever, not even an inch or cm of bending.

It is not a passing issue… if you walked into a high school and asked who has dabbled or more with witchcraft, spells, curses, most of the hands would go up. I personally know a number of people who call themselves witches. The young gal I sat with on the plane was a witch.

I have to admit this whole premise of mixing the two is sneaky and masquerading as something that may have interest to some. It’s as if we are being pushed towards it.

I actually had a “session” with God about this and I asked Him what to write. He said it is like playing with fire and that if we fool with this idea of mixing the 2, God and witchcraft (satan), we will get burned. He went onto say that the people have been deceived. He wants people to have fair warning.

The church has remained very quiet about the supernatural fascination of the spiritual world and the occult. Satan has us terrified that he can “get us” so we have clammed up and gone into hiding hoping not to be found.

Satan on the other hand has walked into the center stage of the 3 ringed circus we call life and proceeded to perform. Perform he does!

The world has been watching and at the moment they only see satan offering the power and miracles that they are seeking and they are flocking to it.

Movies such as Harry Potter, Twilight were huge access to the supernatural side, but interest in the dark side has always been around. I mean even Mary Poppins was supernatural. Disney always had the good and evil sides fighting each other. TV shows, books all with a look at the supernatural side are readily available. But there has been a rise of the dark and gory.

My son walked into a house with disturbingly dark, gory pictures of the peoples’ child hung on the wall in the name of “art” and “ family”.

Where is the light? Where are the God miracles? Why are we, the church silent?

Well I am not the silent type…..

There are a couple of huge facts we are forgetting, critical thinking hats on please:

1) There are only 2 sides in this world, Gods and satans, not my definition, totally outlined in the Bible. We must choose which one we follow, again not my words, but Gods.

2) The sides are not even - God created satan, satan is NOT an equal, never has and never will be. But he sure wants you to think he is as powerful as God Himself.

3) God is a spirit, that means He is the author of spiritual life, God not the other guy.

4) You cannot have a satan without God

Where did we ever learn about an enemy named the devil, satan, demons? From the Bible. God can exist without satan, but satan cannot exist without God. Satans very existence proves the presence of God. Yet the world is flouting about as if only satan and the dark side exist.

5) God warns us, gives clear direction and catastrophic results about mucking about in the demonic. He offers many names for the devil: father of lies, murderer, destroyer, adversary, dragon, serpent, accuser, lucifer, evil one, tempter.

Who is the devil going to destroy? God says he comes to steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10)

YOU! He is coming after you, your children, and your grandchildren and family. The Bible says satan hates God, he tried to go head to head with God, it did not work. Guess who wins and always does? God. Since the devil knows he cannot defeat God, he decided to go after Gods children. Who are Gods children? Mankind, especially those who follow God, but he will take whoever he can get. Revelation 12:17

He does not want to simply play the game, you know where he gets all the praise, no, he wants to destroy, kill, annihilate. He does not fight fair, nor does he care about you or your family in the slightest. He wants to hurt God by taking out His family.

If you think you have some unusual powers and “know” things by hanging around satan, consider for a moment, where are you getting your power from? Only 2 choices, God the author of love, kindness or a created hate filled being who wants to destroy you and those you love.

I get that it seems harmless, it seems exciting. Please, please know you are being lied to by the enemy of your soul. There is nothing harmless about it.

God forbade His people to interact with the dark side, calling it a detestable abominations. He did it out of love for our safety and protection. He says no to: witches, divination, sorcery, necromancy, fortune telling, tarot cards, physchics. Deuteronomy 18:10-12, Leviticus 19:31, Galations 5:20-21

He forbids interacting in this way because He cares. When we fool around in the occult and supernatural world, we open ourselves up as vessels to be used by the demons and their world. They really do take over.

I had a Pastor inform me as a teenager that he used to visit Essondale Mental Hospital in Vancouver, as one of his roles. He warned me that he saw people in that hospital do physical things to themselves and others that were beyond human, it was demonic. He wanted me to know it was not a game, that I should run, not walk away from Ouiji boards, tarot cards and anything to do with the occult. Some of the best advice I have ever received.

Now as a mature believer I have seen for myself people who have been plagued by demonic presence on, around and even in them. I have witnessed spiritual physical attacks on people, including spirits trying to kill them. I have seen the wrecked lives of spiritual abuse. I have been called to go deal with them. I am not an expert nor do I go looking for this but it is a very real thing in our world. I have seen it up close and it’s not something that you forget. Ask any Pastor, most will have a list of stories of spiritual experiences.

The Bible talks a lot about deliverance - the removal or casting out of demons and most of the time healing and deliverance went together.

The occult, is not to be toyed with, it is not fun to interact with the dark side.

When I have been asked to go help it is usually because someone was having big issues or things happening they couldn’t explain. Scared them to the point of calling for help.

We live in a world that is both physical and spiritual it is a spiritual battle field we are in. The time to make the plan about a battle is at the beginning. You don’t start planning in the middle of the war. You plan before you enter the battle. Trying to plan on the battlefield is not a strategy that works. Most of us miss the strategic plan part. What is the plan? Do not fool with the occult. What that Pastor told me was that anytime my brain thought about the devil to launch into the Lord’s Prayer. The battle is to turn the other direction, to shut the door on those wandering thoughts. Slam and shut the door quickly!

It is very real - good versus evil and just like oil and water do not mix, God and the demonic do not mix, ever.

So can I talk about God miracles, Gods encounters with people? Still happens every day. I have seen and been involved with many God miracles. God is in the encounter business. He still raises the dead, heals the sick, directs nature, and has unlimited supernatural powers.

That is who I want to serve, the One who rescued me from the clutches of my enemy. Who guards me daily. I cannot ever tell you all the supernatural events that have happened in my life, there are too many. So do I know the supernatural is real? Yes.

Do I know which side I want to be on? Absolutely, the side with ALL the Power!

Spoiler alert… the side that always wins! So shut the front door on the dark side and go the other way knowing that dark cannot exist in the light, especially knowing that the two do not mix.
