Totally frustrated and confused about this COVID 19, I asked God what He thought about it.
He told me that He isn’t worried. Now if He had said: duck and cover - I might be worried. If He had said, head for the hills - I might be worried, but He didn't.
I explained to Him my concern that we are giving up ground by isolating and fearing while being separated and herded like cattle. I exclaimed: “God we NEED to be doing something!”
I gave Him one of my favorite quotes from The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren: “Christians like snowflakes are frail, but when they stick together they can stop traffic.”
I lamented that we have been separated instead of banding together in power, isn’t He worried? I asked Him, “What Are People Supposed to Do?”
He told me: People need to be purposeful at this time with Prayer, Presence and Redeeming their Power.
Prayer: we need to go back to prayer. Without isolation we were so busy that God was almost an afterthought. We gave Him 10 minutes a day, maybe 20 at best and then frantically got on with our day. Running the kids, making breakfast, trying to find the shortest drive-through line up for coffee, breathlessly entering work with 1 minute to spare, focused on our jobs until day’s end and rushing back home, supper, kids, spouse and then finally we collapsed onto bed, not even realizing that God did not get much of our attention today. Thinking… “Give God more time? When? I was so busy!”
Now the busy has been taken away. Stay home: and do what?
Prayer, Presence and Redeeming our Power. It is time to adjust our posture.
Prayer is an activity of posture. Who is in charge of your life? You or God? When you go to God in prayer you change your posture, it becomes a posture of looking up to God who created you and has been waiting to have a true relationship with you. Did you hear that? He has been waiting to talk to you!
You were created to have a relationship with God, actually for nothing else. As radical as that sounds, the purpose of your conception was to have a relationship with your Heavenly Father, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit because that is how God designed it.
Presence: “Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37, Mark 12:30, Luke 10:27, Deuteronomy 6:5
Love the Lord your God above all else: with ALL your heart, All your soul and ALL your mind. Everything. This is how you were created, with this need inside of you looking for meaning and purpose and you can look everywhere in the world, and perhaps for a while you think you found it, but all of it will fall short until you start here. Loving God with all that is within you. Then you will have found life, purpose and meaning all in one place.
Redeeming your Power: First off, I want to be very clear – you have no power. When you have a relationship with God and have His Holy Spirit living inside you – You have more power than you can ever imagine! God wants His power to live inside you. Again, it is what we were designed for.
God promises many times in the Bible that if we give our life to Him, He will replace our hearts of stone with a new heart and give us a new spirit, namely: His.
“ And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh”
Notice God will do the work, not us, our only job is to believe that He will do it, to invite Him into our lives and to keep ourselves in His presence. We, ourselves have the ability to block God’s work in us by unplugging ourselves.
Have you seen those tv commercials where people are running around with their cell phones yelling out “I’m dying!” because their phone battery is fading. Unplugged from our power source, we are fading and dying too. We are not meant to live on our own power.
It is not an accident that we right now have time with no distractions. The only distraction that keeps us from recognizing this at this time is the “fear” surrounding Covid 19 and it will hold you tightly in it’s grip and keep you stuck OR you can go to the source of life, plug back in and receive power: God
Ask God to make you into a new creation, the blood of Jesus is the restorer of all things, all things become new with this step. God's specialty is taking something that seems devastating hard and making something of beauty come out of it.
Satan has tried to snuff out our relationship with God from the beginning of time. He started in the garden of Eden. If he cannot be in charge and that is why he got kicked out of heaven, cause he tried to usurp God, he will try to turn the hearts of people away from God. People do not even know they are being set up.
God has declared that His purposes for mankind will prevail, He established people on the earth to have a relationship with Him. A relationship where He is God and people will bow down to Him, nothing else.
I awoke at 4:00am and God had something to say, in a very strong tone He spoke a declaration to me that said: "No amount of isolation, suffocation or defecation that tries to separate Him from His creation, His people, will ever succeed!"
He will redeem the time that people over the whole world have to spend in isolation wooing people back to a relationship with Him. He will use this time where people have lack of distractions to overthrow the plans of the enemy. He will build up His people and when we emerge from isolation it will be with great power, great faith, ready to unite in a way that we never have before except perhaps at the tower of babel, where we were unstoppable.
God will not make robots of people; He will not force His way upon anyone; we have freewill to choose. We always have. You and I have a choice to make - spend the time in isolation in fear, cowering or spend the time in isolation redeeming what has been stolen from us: Prayer, Presence and Power.
