Weird Things In The Sky

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a tree, it’s not superman, it’s, it’s…. truly we do not know.

There was something weird in the skies the past couple days, at least here in the north.

Those two pictures above were taken one directly over the town of Hythe, Alberta on Monday and the other in Terrace, BC., on Sunday.

The picture with the “things” sitting on top of the clouds was taken by my husband. He was working in his big truck, saw the clouds and they looked so strange, it forced him to stop his big truck by the side of the road and take some pictures. He took me today to the exact spot where he observed it, it was then we figured out the shapes were right above the little town of Hythe.

Just what are those things on top of the clouds? Everyone we show the picture to, seems to have a different opinion. Are they weird clouds? A fair number of people see angels; someone commented that it could be the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse mentioned in Revelation 6. But there is no exact answer because frankly, we do not know.

Did you notice that those things are beside a rainbow? Rainbows are a promise from God that He will never again flood the entire world. You do not have to take my word for it, check out Genesis 9:9-17

A God promise plus something on the clouds, it seems fairly significant when they are put together. Makes you go hmmm.

We do know there is something there, just what it is…….

The second picture was taken right over someone’s campsite up by Terrace, BC., no other clouds in the sky, beautiful blue sky with this angel like cloud formation right over top of their heads. It unnerved them enough to wonder what the “angel” had come to announce.

Seems similar to another famous story where the angels come to announce the birth of a baby…… It is imperative to remember that angels in the sky is not a foreign concept and that the Bible defines an angel as, “a messenger of God.” Hebrews 1:14

Have you ever spent time laying on the grass and staring up at the sky, watching the clouds – making them into animals or shapes you can identify with? People have a fascination watching the sky.

Most of us read the sky in the morning and the evening remembering: Red sky at night, sailors delight, red sky in the morning, sailors warning. Did you know that this concept is mentioned in the Bible? It is in Matthew 16:2-3 The reading of the sky was used over 2,000 years ago – people have been watching the sky since forever. There is something so magical about watching the stars at night, finding the big dipper and then the little dipper and going from there.

There are many scriptures in the Bible about watching the sky. The oldest book of the Bible, believed to be the book of Job, mentions the constellations even naming them Pleiades, Orion, Arcturus and even one we do not know Mazzaroth. Job 38:31-32

God tells us to watch the sky:

Luke 21:25-27 – talking about the “end days” a time period where things on earth get a little interesting. “And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the seas and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man (Jesus) coming in a cloud with power and great glory.”

Luke 21:11 – talking about the same time period. “There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.”

Joel 2:30 and Acts 2:19 (Old and New Testament) “And I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke.”

And my favorite – Jesus comes back on the clouds and everyone will see Him. It is no wonder we watch the sky.

Revelation 1:7 “Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him (Jesus) , even those who pierced Him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of Him. Even so. Amen”

When Jesus first came to earth, angels heralded His arrival in the sky – shepherds in a field nearby saw the angels. What I find interesting is the Bible does not say the whole city of Bethlehem noticed the angels and ran outside to see them or hear them. Why? If angels appeared in the sky and not just one or two, would you not expect crowds of people to see them? Perhaps with the hustle and bustle of the city and the lights, the angels went unnoticed. Or maybe people were too busy. The shepherds in the fields, sitting in the dark noticed something odd in the sky. Brian who spends hours in his big truck, scanning the horizon while he drives, noticed something odd in the sky and he stopped to notice. I would love to know who else noticed those weird shapes that day.

The angel cloud overhead at the campsite seems to imply a message of some kind and it would be wise to stop and consider exactly what.

The Bible says that some of us have “entertained angels without knowing it” (Hebrews 13:2), in other words angels are around us on earth at various times and we do not recognize them. When something appears in the sky, larger than life, it would be good to ask why?

All this prompts a few questions: What season are we in? Is it time for us to see these signs in the sky of the “last” days? Knowing what season you are in is vitally important for life. Seasons give us direction – are we in a planting time, a growing time, a harvest time or a dormant time? It would be silly to plant in the middle of winter and expecting a crop to grow.

What or if God is communicating with us through these pictures, what is He saying?

So many questions and I do not know about you, but I am not going to stop scanning the sky….
